Speaking Events
February event: On Sunday, February 22, 2009, Imagine Chicago hosted an Ubumama benefit concert
with the incomparable singer/songwriter Claudia Schmidt. The concert was
accompanied by short presentations by MacArthur fellow Dr. Funmi Olopade, by
Bliss Browne, President of Imagine Chicago, and by Nelle Temple Brown recently
retired External Relations Officer of WHO. $4000 was raised to support the
expansion of Ubumama in rural Nigeria. PBS was on hand to film the event as
part of a documentary on low-tech high impact health interventions. Thanks to
Christ Church Winnetka and Grace Presbyterian Church for their hospitality and
to Starbucks for providing a delicious afternoon tea!
